Our latest project was for a company that makes and packages candy bars. We designed a retracting nose bar conveyor for a 90 degree transfer of chocolate candy bars. This system is constructed of stainless steel and can be fully washed down, it is also caster mounted for portability.
This conveyor features 34 inch wide food grade belting, automatic belt tracking system, spring loaded belt scrapers, and a ⅜ nose bar transfer at each end. There is a servo driven retracting nose bar. The retract length can be programmed via HMI.
All in all this conveyor could be used for a variety of products. It includes a pneumatic bar aligner for the reorientation of bulk products. In this instance the pneumatic bar gets the product (chocolate) into a single file row to then enter the wrap machine.
Another cool feature of this conveyor line is the candy bar inspection station. This station measures product length and measures the spacing between rows of products (chocolate bars) to ensure reliable transfer into the wrap machine. If a bar is broken or not spaced correctly they are rejected over the 90 degree transfer belt.
